Sergio Scabar

Born in Ronchi dei Legionari (GO) in 1946, where he works and lives. He developed an interest in photography back in 1964. From 1966 to 1974 he occasionally participates to national and international competitions using photography mostly with a story telling, documentary purpose. Afterwards, in the 1980's, his work takes over a radical change: the human figure slowly disappears from his subjects, giving space to nature by sublimating its material and conceptual aspects. With his 1996 “Theatre of things” he begins an alchemical unique “single print” technique. His craftsmanship is more evident compared to his previous works: there's a contact with the materials, the repossession of methods, meticulousness and time, low-key effects due to chemical and sensitive relationships, blended together into an essential creativity.
In 2003 he is awarded by the C.R.A.F. with the “Friuli Venezia Giulia Photography” award, in 2008 he has published a book entitled “Silence Lights” edited by Marte Edizioni, in 2010 the “Cinidors” volume, edited by the Colonos Cultural Association.
