Denis Brihat

Born in Paris in 1928, Denis Brihat begins his photographic career as a commercial photographer and as a photojournalist for the Rapho agency. In 1955-56 he stays in India where he makes a series of photo essays with which he wins the Niepce Prize, following with an important exhibition. Then afterwards he establishes himself south of France, in Bonnieux in the Provençe, and he begins to shift his work towards artistic photography by particularly representing natural elements by making still lives and photographic tableaux experimenting different techniques such as metal toning and grignotage since 1968. From 1970 onwards he holds workshops and teaching activities. In 1987 he receives the Grand Prix of photography from the city of Paris. Between 1980 and 2000 he's been concentrating on photographic works specifically dedicated to nature, such as the limited edition onions, poppies, trees and kiwis. Since 1960 he has held many photographic exhibitions around many international galleries.
